The Steeples of New Riegel

June 9 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

New Riegel historian, Andy Schalk, will be presenting the rich 190 year history of the Catholic Church in New Riegel. From its earliest days of European immigrants settling the untamed wilderness to the founding of the Order of the Precious Blood in America, this presentation will explore how the German speaking parish of modest means managed to build a Sisters' Convent, School, Orphanage, and more. Playing a vital role in the growth and sustainability of the community it served, this parish also helped shape the Catholic Church throughout much of Northwest Ohio.
