Chris Barry - Ordinary Men in Extraordinary Circumstances
On July 8th, 2021, Chris Barry visited the Seneca County Museum for a special presentation. Barry, a history teacher at Irvington High School in New York, wrote No Flinching From Fire: The 65th New York Volunteer Infantry in the American Civil War.”
His presentation included points about the men from the Tiffin area who fought in the 65th NYVI. Barry said Company K of the 65th New York Volunteer Infantry was largely raised in Tiffin. “Tiffin men like Lafayette Burns, Charley Crockett and Thomas Higgenbotham saw much of the war, and they gave their lives fighting in it,” he said. “Their letters back home tell a compelling story of life in the Union Army."
